Cocoa Sourcing: Our Commitment to
Quality & Sustainability

At Ferrero, we place quality and sustainability at the heart of every Ferrero Rocher chocolate bar. We aim to continuously improve the quality of our products, with the ambition of contributing to positive social change and reducing our environmental impact across our value chain. This includes supporting farming communities, sourcing high-quality ingredients and redesigning our packaging for improved recyclability.

OUR APPROACH TO
COCOA SOURCING

Cocoa is a distinctive ingredient in Ferrero Rocher chocolate bars. To maintain the high quality of our products, we also pay close attention to how cocoa is sourced.

At every step of the cocoa supply chain, Ferrero works closely with its partners to ensure cocoa meets our high quality standards, whilst supporting the continuous improvement of environmental and social practices in its production.

We source our cocoa mainly from Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, countries that together account for over half of global supply. Through dedicated mitigation programs, we collaborate and engage with various stakeholders (incl. NGOs, scientists, authorities, peers, industry bodies and suppliers) to address complex supply chain challenges.

Today, 100% of the cocoa used in Ferrero Rocher chocolate bars is sourced through independent sustainability standards such as Rainforest Alliance, Cocoa Horizons and Fairtrade.

We are committed to contributing to a more responsible cocoa supply chain by increasing traceability and supporting farming communities.

OUR CARE FOR QUALITY

Utmost care for quality is at the heart of every Ferrero Rocher chocolate bar.

We source high-quality ingredients from carefully selected suppliers and farmers. They are then brought together through meticulous quality controls and regular tasting, ensuring a consistently refined taste experience.

PROTECTING OUR PRODUCT
QUALITY AND FRESHNESS

Ferrero Rocher chocolate bars are sealed in hermetic aluminium foil within a cardboard case to preserve taste and quality.

The foil is made of 100% aluminium and can be recycled via the appropriate local recycling scheme.

The case is made from virgin cardboard sourced exclusively from well-managed sources, in line with Ferrero’s global sourcing strategy. The cardboard case is also recyclable via the appropriate local recycling scheme.

We recommend always checking local sorting guidance for correct disposal of packaging materials.

Ferrero continues to evolve its packaging solutions with the aim of increasing sustainability across all materials.

CARE AND STORAGE

Store the chocolate bars in a cool, dark place with temperatures around 18°-22°C, and avoid any hot appliances, lights, and humid locations.

As fridges are high in humidity, they are not suitable for chocolate (high moisture can result in sugar bloom). If you need to place the bar in the fridge, place it in an airtight container or double wrap it in plastic. Then, if you can resist a bit longer, bring the chocolate to room temperature for 15 minutes before consuming it.
